DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Bar Association (NBA), the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) and the Ward 21 Welfare Committee, Dimapur, expressed grief at the demise of Late Mayang Lima, former upa-lokayukta of Nagaland.

The NBA in a statement said that Late Lima was a well-known figure in the legal fraternity and was among the group of law officers who transitioned from state service to the judicial service when Nagaland took the momentous decision to separate the judiciary from the executive.

Described as a receptive and jovial person, it said that he was known for greeting everyone with an open smile. While holding court, he seldom showed anger or displeasure and was patient with advocates appearing before him. Regardless of the outcome of arguments presented, he was widely respected for his conduct.

The NBA said it would remember him for the person he was and the life he lived, noting that his passing marked the loss of one of the few remaining members of the old guard in the legal fraternity. The association conveyed heartfelt condolences to his wife and children and prayed that his soul may rest in peace.

It further said that DAYO honours his noble contributions and prays that such exemplary souls continue to be born among the people, while encouraging the younger generation and leaders to follow in his footsteps and strive to fulfil his vision for a better and stronger Nagaland.
