Tributes pour in for former Nagaland Upa-Lokayukta Mayang Lima

DIMAPUR — The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland State, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Abu Metha, and the Naga Council Dimapur, have expressed shock and grief at the sudden and tragic demise of Mayang Lima, former Upa-Lokayukta of Nagaland, who passed away on October 4 at Jorhat.


In a condolence message, the state NPP said Mayang Lima was a man of profound wisdom, humility, and integrity.


“A respected legal luminary and compassionate human being, he was admired for his ability to address complex issues with simplicity and empathy.


His contributions to the judicial system and his sincere service to the people will be remembered with great respect and admiration,” it stated.


Terming his untimely demise as a great loss to the Naga society at large, the NPP state unit led by its president A Nyamnyei Konyak and colleagues, on behalf of the party, extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The Naga Council Dimapur said Lima had always been an essential part of his family, community and Nagas as whole and that he always followed the path of honesty.


“Today we are celebrating his legacy and not mourning him because he was one of the rare gems. He had brought the power of his presence, his compassion and his position to some of the most vital humanitarian issues during his life time. We have all lost an icon,” the NCD’s condolence message stated.


In a separate message, Abu Metha said that Lima was a respected legal luminary and a dedicated public servant who rendered exemplary service to the state government in various capacities.


“His commitment to justice, integrity, and good governance was evident throughout his distinguished career,” Metha stated.


“He was also known for his kindness, generosity, and deep compassion for the underprivileged. His heart was always with those in need. His untimely demise is a great loss to our society, for he still had much to contribute. The void left by his passing will be difficult to fill.”
