DIMAPUR — The Kulolau Atoizumi Küqhakulu and the Western Litsami Union have mourned the tragic death of Hokugha Chishi of Litsami village on May 25 at Jaranapani near the toll tax gate.
According to statements from both organisations, late Chishi was driving a Gypsy when it collided with a dumper truck. The organisations alleged that the dumper involved in the collision was driven by an inexperienced 20-year-old driver employed by Pushpa Company.
The Kulolau Atoizumi Küqhakulu stated that entrusting heavy vehicles to untrained and inexperienced individuals raises grave concerns and poses a serious threat to public safety on the highways. It viewed the incident not merely as an accident, but as a direct consequence of gross negligence and irresponsible conduct.

Both organisations also held the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the concerned authorities responsible for failing to ensure proper road safety measures at the site. They pointed out that the absence of adequate warning signs and clear roadblock indications reflects serious lapses that cost an innocent life.
Chishi is survived by his wife and two young children. Expressing deepest condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time, the organisations demanded immediate ex-gratia compensation from the state government, NHIDCL, and Pushpa Company.
They also demanded the speedy processing of all insurance claims and entitled benefits, alongside a thorough, fair, and impartial investigation into the matter to ensure justice is delivered without compromise.
