MP S. Supongmeren Jamir welcomes the inclusion of 19 tribal languages in the Gramin Dak Sevaks recruitment in Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — Member of Parliament S Supongmeren Jamir has expressed gratitude to various state departments and postal officials for their support in achieving the recognition of 19 notified tribal local languages and dialects of Nagaland in the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevaks.
While initiating and pursuing the recruitment policy reform concerning the engagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in Nagaland, Jamir expressed his gratitude to the Home department, MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, the chief secretary, and Director of Postal Services, Kohima, Dr. Alice K. Vizo, for their collective support and efforts in making the policy initiative a success.
The MP also congratulated all stakeholders involved for achieving the recognition of the 19 notified tribal local languages and dialects of Nagaland in the engagement process of GDS under the Department of Posts.

In a press note, Jamir stated that while GDS recruitment was previously open on a broader all-India basis, this initiative has ensured that the recruitment process in Nagaland will now recognise and incorporate the notified tribal languages of the state, safeguarding the interests and opportunities of the indigenous people of Nagaland.
He remarked that this decision is a significant acknowledgment of the linguistic and cultural identity of the Naga people and will help ensure greater inclusivity, representation, and participation of the youth of Nagaland in the GDS recruitment process.
The MP also welcomed the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Posts, Government of India, dated May 21, recognising proficiency and knowledge of the notified tribal local languages and dialects for GDS engagement in Nagaland.
