
DIMAPUR — The Lotha Officers Association (LOA), Nkialwa Heseiname Bau (NHB), and Gorkha Students' Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) have felicitated the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC toppers conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE).
The Lotha Officers Association (LOA) on Sunday felicitated the HSLC toppers from the Lotha community of Wokha district held at Lotha Hoho Ki.
Nchumbemo R Lotha (top 7), Ruth Y Lotha (top 14) and Meriyani C Humtsoe (top 17) were awarded with Lotha traditional attires and cash by the LOA during the programme.
In their speeches, the toppers thanked God for the blessing and acknowledged LOA for organising the event in honouring their achievement. They have assured to strive harder and bring laurels to the community.
Speeches were also delivered by the chairman of Lotha Hoho (LH), Mhondamo Ovung; president of Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), Thungbeni Ngullie; and president of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), Lironthung E Kithan.
The motivational speaker, Dr. Zujanbeni N Ngullie, EAC (probation), shared her life experience reflecting on the use of technology and advised the students to make good use of their time to achieve success in life.
Stating that giving 100 percent dedication is the mantra for achievement, she expressed that in life there are so many things that are beyond one’s control and should not blame God. She also informed the parents to allow their children pursue studies of their choice and to encourage and support them.
She also reminded the students to be mindful of their parents' support and belief in them. She further urged the students to be self motivated and reminded them to focus on their dreams and aspirations and wished them a bright future.
A song was presented by the students of Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lucy Kikon, PGT Wokha.

In another programme, the Nkialwa Heseiname Bau (NHB), Nkialwa Students’ Union, organised a felicitation programme for the HSLC and HSSLC passed-out students at Nkialwa village local church on May 11.
The chief guest and president of Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU), Kingsalt Hegwang, congratulated the successful students and encouraged them to follow their passions and believe in their dreams. Reminding that the Zeliang tribe is not lesser or inferior to any other forward tribes, he attributed the absence of working hard and working smart for the present situation, an update from the union stated.
He, on behalf of the union, announced that the union would give cash award to the students of Nkialwa village, who secure 90% and above in the next HSLC and HSSLC examinations.
The ZLSU vice president, Rampaukulung, and the village secretary, Igangbeu Siarau, also spoke on the occasion, while the local pastor, Kiramdi Nren, encouraged the passed-out students with the words of God from the bible and blessed the students.
The Gorkha Students' Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) also felicitated HSLC and HSSLC students from the Gorkha community on Sunday at Singrijan Village Council Hall.
The guest of honour, Botovi Jimo, senior Inspector of Statistics, motivated the students to identify their strength and pursue with determination, while the special invitee and head GB of Singrijan and Khopanala village, Tezu Pardhan, challenged the students as well as the parents to preserve one's culture and identity in this fast-changing world.
The special guest and media and publicity secretary of Gorkhaland State Demand National Committee (GSDNC), Darjeeling, Deepak Chettri, highlighted the high rate of unemployment among the educated Gorkha youth and encouraged the Gorkha students to be hardworking and wisely choose their line of studies that has broader scope.
The president of GSUCD, Jacob Sundas, and president of All Nagaland Gorkha Students’ Union (ANGSU), John Thakuri, also spoke on the occasion.
Altogether, 93 Gorkha students including toppers from the Gorkha community of Nagaland were felicitated with mementos.
