Open Naga Wrestling Championship to be held on November 7

DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), will organise the 3rd Senior and 2nd U-15 Open Naga Wrestling Championship 2025 at Pfutsero Sports Complex in Phek district on November 7.

According to an update, the senior category champion will receive a cash prize of INR 2 lakh. The second position holder will get INR 1.20 lakh, while the third and fourth positions will be awarded INR 70,000 and INR 50,000 respectively. Losing quarter-finalists will receive INR 10,000 each.

In the U-15 boys’ category, the first and second position holders will be awarded INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively. The third and fourth positions will receive INR 7,000 and INR 5,000 respectively, while losing quarter-finalists will receive INR 2,000 each.

A total of 32 wrestlers will be shortlisted for the under-15 boys’ category on a first-come, first-served basis. The last date for submission of forms has been fixed on October 25, according to CWA general secretary Kukhoto Venyo.

The event will be managed by the Chakhesang Catholic Association in aid of the construction of a new office building at Pfutsero. Entry tickets have been fixed at INR 5,000 for well-wishers, INR 1,000 for chairs, INR 500, INR 300 and INR 150 for the gallery.

The CWA has invited all interested wrestlers within and outside Nagaland to participate in the tournament. The Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board will officiate the championship.
