DIMAPUR — Citing rising traffic congestion following the relocation of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Purana Bazaar in East Dimapur, the Tribal Council Purana Bazaar has proposed a new one-way traffic arrangement to streamline vehicular movement in the area from May 12.
In a press release issued on Monday, the council stated that the shifting of the DC office has led to a significant increase in traffic volume, causing inconvenience to commuters and the general public.
Following deliberations on the issue, the council resolved to introduce a traffic management system aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smoother movement of vehicles around the administrative complex.
Under the proposed arrangement, vehicles entering the DC office area will use the Cana Road opposite Assam Rifles and the church road near Hollohon petrol pump as the designated entry route.

Vehicles exiting the area will be directed through the road connecting the Income Tax Office and the Assistant Labour Commissioner’s Office, which has been designated as the exit route.
The council urged the authorities concerned to take official note of the worsening traffic situation and implement the proposed regulations with effect from May 12.
It further appealed to the public to cooperate with the new traffic system and strictly follow the designated entry and exit routes to maintain smooth and orderly traffic movement in the area.
The council also called upon colony leaders to assist the authorities in regulating traffic and ensuring effective implementation of the arrangement.
