DIMAPUR — The Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) have condemned the alleged sexual assault and physical abuse of a minor girl at Lengrijan, Dimapur.
In a condemnation note, the women hoho stated that such horrific acts against innocent children are a serious concern for society and must be dealt with utmost urgency and seriousness.
“As a mother body committed to the welfare and protection of women and children, NWHD unequivocally condemns this shameful and inhuman act. Violence and exploitation against minors are intolerable and deserve the strongest condemnation from every responsible section of society,” it stated.

The NWHD appealed to the concerned authorities and law enforcement agencies to conduct a fair, prompt, and thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that the accused, O Watimeren, is booked under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other applicable laws.
“Strict and exemplary punishment must be awarded to the perpetrator so that justice is delivered to the victim and such crimes are deterred in the future.
“We stand in solidarity with the victim and her family during this traumatic time and pray for her physical, emotional, and psychological healing. The safety and dignity of every child must remain a collective responsibility of society,” it stated.
The NWHD further urged all citizens, organisations, and community leaders to come together in creating awareness and strengthening protective measures to ensure that children are safe from abuse, exploitation, and violence.
“NWHD reaffirms its commitment towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of women and children and calls upon society to stand united against all forms of injustice and abuse,” it added.
The DNSU, in a separate statement, termed the “barbaric act” as a grave violation of human dignity and a serious threat to the safety of society, stating that such crimes are absolutely intolerable and must be dealt with the harshest legal action.
“DNSU stands in firm solidarity with the victim and her family and demands immediate justice. The severe physical, emotional, and psychological trauma inflicted upon the minor cannot be ignored, and the accused must be held fully accountable without delay,” the union stated.
It stated that it has come to light that the accused has been granted anticipatory bail. DNSU strongly condemned this and demanded that the anticipatory bail be immediately cancelled or revoked.
It argued that allowing the accused to remain free in such a serious case undermines justice and obstructs a fair investigation.
The union demanded that law enforcement authorities act swiftly to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused and initiate strict legal proceedings. It stated that any delay, negligence, or leniency will not be tolerated.
The DNSU further warned that failure to deliver timely justice would compel the union to take necessary democratic steps. It stated that crimes against minors must be met with zero tolerance and uncompromising enforcement of the law.
