Shisak Sharma receives award during the International Conference on Innovations in Nanomaterials, Nano Devices and Smart Technologies at SGT University, Gurugram.


DIMAPUR — Shisak Sharma, a doctoral student in the Department of Chemistry at Nagaland University (Lumami), secured major accolades at the International Conference on Innovations in Nanomaterials, Nano Devices and Smart Technologies (INNOST NANO 2025).


According to an update, the conference was jointly organised by SGT University, Gurugram, and Research Wheel Publishers from November 12 to the 14th.


Sharma was awarded the “Overall Best Performance” of the conference, which carried a cash prize. According to the update, the award recognised his contribution to the scientific sessions.


He also received the “Best Paper Presentation” in the technical session and the Research Excellence Award.

The Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, JK Patnaik, congratulated Sharma on the achievement, stating that he has brought laurels to the university. Ambrish Singh, head of the Department of Chemistry, also commended the scholar for his performance on an international platform.


Sharma is pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Dipak Sinha at Nagaland University. His presentation focused on next-generation photocatalysts for advanced water purification.


INNOST NANO 2025 aims to serve as a global platform for scientists, academicians, industry experts, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and young researchers to share knowledge and explore research in nanoscience, nanotechnology, and smart material innovations; engage in interactive discussions on emerging technologies shaping society, the economy, and the environment; and foster strong industry-academia collaborations.


The conference featured 33 technical sessions with over 300 participants presenting their research.


Talk Sophos Programme held


Meanwhile, the Debate Club of Nagaland University’s Kohima Campus held its 2nd Talk Sophos Programme on November 21, on the theme “Youth identity in the making: Navigating between media and cultural heritage" with Theyiesinuo Keditsu, assistant professor, Kohima College, as the resource person.


A total of 86 participants attended the programme.


N Venuh, pro vice-chancellor of Kohima Campus, on the occasion underlined the importance of engaging in open discourse while encouraging the club to grow forward.


The keynote address by the resource person discussed how media shapes identity and the significance of cultural heritage in guiding youth development.


A special performance by Manong Y Konyak and Meyisor L Longkumer was part of the event. The Q&A session, moderated by Shalo Kent, recorded engagement and discussion with the speaker.
