KOHIMA — The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) commemorated the 40th NSF Martyrs' Day at NSF Martyrs' Park, Kohima, on Friday.
Addressing the programme, NSF president Mteisuding said the sacrifices of the martyrs continue to inspire the younger generation to uphold their legacy.
He noted that the two individuals had laid down their lives at the ages of 19 and 14, and that their contribution remains significant for the Naga people.
He stated that even after four decades, the martyrs are remembered, and the federation stands in solidarity with their families.

Referring to the events of March 20, 1986, Mteisuding said the Naga Students' Federation had mobilised people in protest against the Disturbed Areas Act at Alichen, during which an incident resulted in the deaths of two students.
He added that the NSF would continue to honour their memory and called upon the younger generation to draw inspiration from their sacrifices while upholding the legacy of nationalism.
Delivering the solidarity message, Angami Students' Union (ASU) president Diezevisie Nakhro said the day marks the 40th Martyrs' Day of late Kekuojalie Sachu of Kohima Village and late Vikhozo Yhoshu of Kigwema Village.
He called on the people to uphold the values of unity, justice, and dignity.
Nakhro also stated that the ASU remains indebted to the families of the two martyrs. He recalled that during the 25th NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy last year, a trophy tour was conducted across the Naga areas to promote unity and oneness, and acknowledged the NSF for the initiative.
He further stated that their sacrifices should serve as a reminder to continue upholding unity, justice, and dignity, and to foster oneness among themselves.
The programme was chaired by Marikho O Lerina, speaker, NSF, while a prayer was offered by Dr. Chikhungo Puro, pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kitsubozou.
A wreath-laying ceremony was also held, with participation from NSF, ASU, and the martyrs’ families.
