Nand Kishore Yadav reviews health indicators, TB programme progress and healthcare challenges in Kohima meeting.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav held a meeting with officials of the Department of Health & Family Welfare at Naga Bhavan conference hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on Friday.
During the meeting, led by Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, S Tainiu, the department made a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the state’s socio-demographic profile, health infrastructure, and key achievements in the health sector, stated a press release issued by PRO Lok Bhavan.
The department informed that Nagaland has made notable progress in improving major health indicators: Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) declined significantly, while Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Total Fertility Rate (TFR) have also shown considerable improvement over the years, reflecting better maternal and child healthcare services in the state.

The officials also apprised the governor of the performance under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), including improvements in case detection and treatment outcomes.
However, certain areas such as timely disbursement under the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana and patient adoption were highlighted as areas requiring further attention.
Yadav appreciated the efforts of the department in strengthening healthcare delivery and improving key health indicators.
He emphasised the need for sustained focus on effective implementation of health programmes, particularly in remote and rural areas, and encouraged the department to continue its efforts towards ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
