The Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights organises an awareness programme in Ahthibung focusing on the POCSO and JJ Acts.

DIMAPUR — A one-day awareness programme on "Child rights and child protection" was organised by the Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NSCPCR) in collaboration with KNK at the town hall in Ahthibung headquarters, Peren, on April 18.
Chairman of NSCPCR, Alun Hangsing, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he quoted, "Where children are respected and protected, God resides there."
During the technical session, Legal Consultant of NSCPCR, Lichani Murry, spoke on the overview of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act by protecting the children with care, protection, and treatment with respect to their rights and adopting a child-friendly approach. She also spoke on the process of adoption.

Member of NSCPCR, Akumla Longchari, spoke on understanding the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and its implementation. She stated that children are the future of society, yet many of them continue to suffer in silence.
She underlined that the POCSO Act is a stringent and comprehensive law designed to safeguard all children below the age of 18 years from sexual abuse and exploitation.
Speaking on the Right to Education (RTE), member of NSCPCR Aying Wangsha stressed that all stakeholders, including government, educators, parents, churches, and civil societies, should work hand in hand to ensure that all children are in school because only through education can all children be empowered.
