DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Kilo Affairs, NSCN (Unification), has issued a clarification regarding news items published on January 20 concerning the alleged defection of 31 national workers from the Neokpao/Alezo-led NSCN (U) and joining NSCN-K (Khongo-Hokato Vushe).
In a statement, the group said the reports have caused "widespread misunderstanding".
The group stated it received a written clarification from national workers of the Sumi Region authority. The letter categorically stated that the workers were entirely unaware of the ‘sinister and premeditated design harboured by Hokishe Zhimomi, former Kilonser-cum-RAO of the Sumi Region, who convened a meeting on January 19’.

According to the clarification, following a customary photographic session, the meeting was formally called to order. During the proceedings, Zhimomi unexpectedly proposed an "en-bloc defection".
This proposal was "outrightly rejected by the majority of the workers, except for a few of his close aides”. Consequently, the meeting concluded without any resolution or consensus.
The statement added that to the utter surprise and dismay of the participants, the photograph taken during that meeting was later "misrepresented and circulated for Mr. Zhimomi’s personal and ulterior motives”. It termed such misrepresentation as unacceptable and strongly condemned it.
