DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has issued a clarification regarding the recent defection of some of its functionaries to the Naga National Council/ Federal Government of Nagaland (NNC/FGN) group.
In a statement, the NSCN (IM) said that it had, in good faith, extended an olive branch to all “home-comers” from various factions.
However, it alleged that a few individuals, described as habitual defectors seeking personal gain, had chosen to join the NNC/FGN despite the group’s gesture of goodwill and its efforts toward an inclusive struggle.
The statement further claimed that the defectors had misrepresented their ranks in media reports. According to the NSCN (IM) the actual ranks of the “defectors” are Khutovi Awomi, Atovi Chishi, Akito Achumi, Kughalu Achumi, Kakheto Zhimo (all members of the Steering Committee), and Semato Awomi (Leacy)
It further stated that Akahoto Awomi and Mughalu Aye, both “self proclaimed tatars,” are not members of the NSCN (IM). “Thus, both the individuals are cautioned not to misuse or impersonate our organisation name in the future,” it added.
