DIMAPUR — Amid allegations from some quarters over the killing of three Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) church leaders in Manipur, the NSCN (IM) on Wednesday accused certain organisations of casting blame without verification and attempting to inflame tensions in the region.
In a statement issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN said it was "deeply shocked and anguished" by the ambush and killing of the church leaders between Kotlen and Kotzim villages while they were returning to Kangpokpi from Churachandpur after attending the TBAI Conference at Lamkan.
"It is also unfortunate that certain organisations have resorted to casting blame upon others without proper verification, while some may themselves be attempting to exploit the tragedy for ulterior motives at the expense of innocent lives," the statement read.

The NSCN further alleged that "certain Kuki organisations" were willing to inflame the already volatile situation in the region.
Describing the victims as "unarmed civilians" and "highly respected church leaders", the organisation condemned the killings and urged the authorities to identify those responsible.
"The NSCN condemns in the strongest terms such devilish actions and requests the authorities to unearth the perpetrators who had committed such unheard-of barbarism," it stated.
The organisation also reiterated its stand for "peace, mutual respect, and harmonious coexistence among all communities" and cautioned against "irresponsible accusations and retaliatory narratives" amid prevailing tensions in the region.
