NSAP pension disbursement in Dimapur from September 15

DIMAPUR — The payment of pensions and financial assistance under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) for beneficiaries in Dimapur district will be disbursed between September 15 and October 4 at designated locations.


According to a press release issued by the District Welfare Officer (DWO), Dimapur, the schemes covered include the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), State Old Age Pension (SOAP), Blind Pension, and Financial Assistance to Disabled Persons.


The release stated that beneficiaries who are government pensioners are not eligible as per the Nagaland Old Age Pension Rule, 1981, amended and notified on September 21, 1981. Such individuals are directed to surrender their pension books to the office of the DWO, Dimapur.


For eligibility, senior citizens of 60 years of age and above who are indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland and belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category shall be eligible for a grant under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS).

Under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland between the ages of 40 and 59 years are eligible.


Under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland who are persons with disabilities with 80% certified by the competent authority can apply for the pension.


No person shall be eligible for more than one pension. Government pensioners are not eligible for this scheme. Grant of pension to both husband and wife simultaneously shall be considered only in the most deserving cases under the relevant scheme. Professional beggars shall not be eligible for a pension.


Beneficiaries who do not meet the eligibility criteria but are receiving benefits have been directed to return their pension books, failing which action will be taken against defaulters.


The payment will begin at the DWO Office Dimapur for beneficiaries from Diphupar, Purnabazar, and Chekiye village on September 15. It will continue at the same office for CDPO (R) beneficiaries on September 16 and 17. The disbursement will then take place at the CDPO Medziphema Office on September 18.


For Dansiripar beneficiaries, payments will be made at the CDPO Dansiripar Office on September 23. At the CDPO Niuland Office, payments are scheduled for September 25 and 26. Beneficiaries from Kuhuboto can collect their pensions at the CDPO Kuhuboto Office on September 30. Finally, for Dimapur urban beneficiaries, payments will be disbursed at the DWO Office Dimapur on October 3 and 4.


Beneficiaries are also required to submit a life certificate in the prescribed self-declaration format, certified by their village council chairman, confirming that they are not government pensioners.
