KOHIMA — The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) held the National Pension System (NPS) Quest 2.0 Awards Ceremony at the Hornbill Festival, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Wednesday.
The PFRDA launched the “NPS Quest – Chase Your Future”, especially for Northeast India, aiming to create awareness on the importance of retirement planning, financial independence and the role of the NPS.
Speaking to media persons, S Ramann, chairperson of PFRDA, stated that the NPS is designed for all citizens. He claimed that while it started with government officials, they are now on a special campaign, which is why PFRDA came to the Hornbill Festival with innovative campaigns asking for the creativity of the Northeast to come alive.
He stated that all participants are in the Northeast or connected to the region. Their aim is to encourage people to open an NPS account, which he described as the safest and highest return for investment and long-term savings.

He noted that the NPS is now a fully digital system where one can open an account, contribute, and withdraw money online.
"When you grow old, you need to have money. That money should flow to you on a periodic basis. That is what the National Pension System is all about," he cited.
He also claimed that all government officials in Nagaland are in the NPS system and have benefited. He shared that one can remain in the NPS system up to 85 years of age. “You can draw your money and continue to invest your money. It's a very flexible product,” he cited.
