NPF Youth Wing Wokha hosts the 'One Nagaland Run 5K' to promote health awareness and unity, drawing 86 participants.

WOKHA — The Wokha District Youth Wing of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) organised the ‘One Nagaland Run 5K’ on Thursday, themed 'Running together, growing together', following a directive from the NPF Central Youth Wing.
The event recorded 111 registrations, with 86 runners, including 58 men and 28 women, participating in the run.
Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Senior Vice President of the NPF Central Office Bearers Dr. Chumben Murry attended the occasion as the special guest and flagged off the run.
In the Men’s category, Renthungo Tsanglao clinched first place with a time of 16:18 minutes, followed by Abemo Kithan in 16:49 minutes and Nchumbemo C Humtsoe in 17:20 minutes.
In the Women’s category, Mercy Ezung emerged as the winner in 20:38 minutes, while Chumbeno R Kikon finished second in 20:53 minutes and Jemie Y secured third place in 21:27 minutes.

During a short flag-off ceremony, Dr. Murry commended the NPF Wokha Youth Division and the Wokha Athletic Association for organising the run. He noted that the initiative complemented the youth wing’s recent health camps across Wokha district, highlighting that politics and governance should reflect concern for the well-being of citizens. He further praised the participation of over 80 runners, stating that it reflected growing health consciousness among the youth.
At the prize distribution ceremony, Chairperson of Wokha Town Council Myingthungo Kikon attended as the patron and expressed gratitude to individuals and organisations for their support. He encouraged participants to value involvement over winning, underlining the theme of unity and growth.
The ceremony also featured exhortations from John Ezung, Vice President of NPF Central Office Bearers and Acting President of NPF Wokha Division; Zubenthung T Ngullie, President of Lotha Students’ Union; and Benri Tsopoe, Vice President of Lotha Youth Hoho. They urged the youth to build a stronger society by staying away from drugs and intoxicants.
Amos Odyuo, President of NPF Youth Wing Wokha Division, conveyed gratitude to the NPF Central Youth Wing for the initiative, noting that August has been designated as Youth Activities Month. He highlighted the free medical camps and CMHIS awareness programmes conducted across Nagaland and extended thanks to the medical team, police personnel, and individuals who provided logistical support.
