DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has restored train services over the affected stretch between KM 108/6-8 in the Jatinga Lumpur–New Haflong section of the Lumding–Badarpur hill section.
An update from NFR chief PRO, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that limited train operations would be allowed between 12 noon and 6 pm on Sunday with full-fledged train services to resume from June 30.
It stated that train movement through the previously affected stretch is now running smoothly following the successful restoration of the Lumding–Badarpur hill section.

It stated that the first empty goods train passed through the section and departed from New Harangajao at 8:21 am, marking the resumption of traffic.
It added that train No. 13175 Sealdah–Silchar Kanchenjunga Express, which began its journey on June 28 became the first passenger train to traverse the restored section without any hindrance. It was soon followed by train No. 13174 Sabroom–Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express, which also operated seamlessly on its original route.
Additionally, a special relief train from Rangiya ran successfully and crossed the affected section while going towards Agartala, facilitating the movement of stranded passengers and restoring vital connectivity to the region, it stated.
It mentioned that the section between KM 108/6-8 was severely impacted by multiple earth slips triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, resulting in major disruptions to both passenger and freight train services.
In order to closely assess the situation and oversee the restoration efforts, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, NFR general manager, personally visited the site, reviewed the ongoing work and motivated the field teams on the ground.
It stated that under his direction, maximum manpower and machinery were deployed and NFR teams worked tirelessly day and night to clear the debris and restore the track. It added that their dedicated efforts have ensured the safe and smooth resumption of train services.
Passengers are advised to stay updated through official NFR communication channels for the latest travel and train service information.
