DIMAPUR — In a determined effort to safeguard vulnerable passengers and curb human trafficking, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued a total of 22 minors along with 3 men and 2 women from various railway stations during the period from June 25 to the 29th.
An update from NFR stated that all the rescued individuals were safely handed over to childline authorities, NGOs, respective parents and local police for further necessary action.

In a major operation on June 25 and 26, the RPF teams of Katihar, Kishanganj and Samsi rescued a total of five runaway minor boys. They were later handed over to the designated childline authorities for their safe custody.
Similarly on June 27, the RPF team of Kamakhya rescued one runaway minor boy at Kamakhya railway station. The minor was subsequently handed over to childline Kamakhya for safe custody.
On June 28, a team of RPF managed to rescue five runaway minor girls including one man at New Bongaigaon. Subsequently, 5 minor girls were handed over to childline at Bongaigaon for safe custody. The man was detained at the RPF Post of New Bongaigaon for further inquiry and necessary legal action.
Additionally on June 29, the RPF team from New Coochbehar rescued a missing man at New Coochbehar railway station. Following proper identification and verification procedures, he was safely reunited with his family.
It mentioned that under the "Meri Saheli" initiative, which focuses on the safety and well-being of women passengers especially for those who are travelling alone, the RPF dedicated has lady squads, who are consistently proactive and vigilant.
It added that their continuous efforts have ensured a secure travel environment for numerous women passengers across NFR.
It further stated that RPF of NFR remains steadfast in its mission to enhance passenger safety through timely interventions, vigilant patrolling and a range of passenger-friendly measures with special emphasis on the protection of women and children.
