DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been operating 48 festival special trains for 613 trips across various routes between September and December to manage the heavy passenger rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja.


According to an update, these special trains have been connecting important destinations such as Katihar, Sonpur, Dauram Madhepura, Agartala, New Tinsukia, SMVT Bengaluru, Amritsar, Patna, Dibrugarh, Gorakhpur, Silchar, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ranchi, Charalapalli, Mumbai Central, Agra Cantt, Jogbani, Shalimar and Kamakhya, among others.


The train services are being operated on a daily, weekly, tri-weekly or specific weekday basis, depending on operational feasibility and passenger demand. The running of these special trains is aimed at clearing the extra rush of passengers travelling to and from various regions, including the Northeast, North Bengal, and Bihar.


Passengers have been advised to check detailed timings, stoppages, and coach compositions from official Railway sources before planning their journey.
