NFR hosts cyrtain raiser for world environment day observance

  • DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) organised a curtain raiser event on Friday to mark the beginning of World Environment Day celebrations.

  • The programme held at the conference hall of NFR Headquarters at Maligaon, Guwahati, the NFR stated in a press release. The event commenced in the presence of all PHODs, HODs and officers at HQ along with divisional counterparts participating from their respective locations through video link.

  • The programme marked the presence of NFR’s General Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava and DP Dash, Advisor, Chennai Metro, as the chief guest.

  • The event underscored the significance of sustainable practices in railway operations with a presentation that highlighted the various activities planned across NFR from May 23 to June 5, to commemorate World Environment Day.

  • A major highlight of the occasion was an insightful guest lecture by DP Dash, through a live session.

  • His lecture emphasised the integration of modern technology with eco-conscious planning in urban transit systems. The session also reflected NFR’s commitment towards embracing innovation for environmental sustainability and provided valuable learning for officers stationed across the zone, the NFR stated.

  • “The event served as a platform to reaffirm NFR’s dedication towards environmentally responsible railway operations and fostered awareness among its workforce about the significance of climate resilience, green energy and eco-smart infrastructure.

  • “Through this initiative, NFR continues to lead by example in aligning national transportation priorities with global sustainability goals,” the release added.
