DIMAPUR — The Bachelor’s students of North East Christian University (NECU) conducted an exposure tour to the Nagaland Science Centre, Dimapur, on October 18 as part of their community service under the Kekhoya Project.
They were accompanied by 100 children from classes 1 to 8 who live in the university neighbourhood and attend regular classes from Monday to Friday at the university premises, according to an update.
Under the Kekhoya Project, the students provide free classes to the neighbourhood children. ‘Kekhoya’ is a Tenyidie word meaning helping one another, lifting up the feeble and those in need, and bearing each other’s burden.

The community service is based on the principles of love, kindness, and compassion, aiming to train students to develop a sense of servant leadership in their approach.
It was mentioned that the project, carried out under the theme ‘Kekhoya Project’, seeks to impart values such as humility, charity, the importance of carrying each other’s burden, valuing human life above oneself, and serving others’ interests. It emphasises living a purpose-driven life and fulfilling one’s calling.
