Lein Bridge along the Noklak-Panso road via Lengnyu and Tsuwao has been temporarily restored and opened for light vehicles following its collapse due to heavy rain.
DIMAPUR — The temporary restoration of Lein Bridge along the Noklak-Panso road via Lengnyu/Tsuwao has been completed and the bridge opened for vehicular movement, Deputy Commissioner of Noklak P Mono Khiamniungan has informed.
According to a circular issued by the deputy commissioner, the bridge is presently motorable for light vehicles only. All commuters, vehicle owners and drivers have been advised to maintain a safe speed, avoid overloading and use the bridge with due caution and safety measures.
The DC also requested the public to extend their cooperation and comply with the advisory in the interest of safety and disaster risk reduction.
It may be mentioned that the bridge collapsed due to heavy rain in the upstream area on July 19, cutting off the surrounding villages completely.
With the timely intervention of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Noklak, Road & Bridge department, and village councils of Lengnyu and Tsuwao villages, a temporary wooden bridge measuring 57 feet long and 10 feet wide was constructed within a short period of time.
