Kuda Village Council bars unauthorised organisations from using the village names Kuda or Nagarjan in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR — The Kuda Village Council has issued a public notice clarifying that it has no affiliation with an entity styling itself as the "Business Owners Forum, Nagarjan, Dimapur" and reiterated that using the names "Kuda village" or "Nagarjan" without council permission is prohibited.
In a statement, the council stated it was surprised to learn of the existence of the forum following a press release issued on September 10, in which the forum purportedly objected to a resolution passed by the United Colony Council seeking to ban business unions and associations within the colony.
The council clarified that it has no knowledge of any organisation named "Business Owners Forum, Nagarjan Dimapur", pointing out that "Nagarjan" is the erstwhile name of Kuda village.
The village council explained that Kuda village was established in 1941 and has functioned as a recognised village governed under The Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978.

The council added that the villagers resolved to revert the name from Nagarjan back to its original name, Kuda village. The renaming received formal approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs on July 11, 2008, communicated on July 14, 2008, and was notified by the Government of Nagaland through a notification on September 2, 2008.
Invoking Section 15(a) of the Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978, for maintaining law and order within its jurisdiction, the council notified that no organisation is permitted to use the name "Kuda village" or "Nagarjan" without specific written approval from the Kuda Village Council.
The council cautioned that any organisation using either name to represent itself or indicate its location without prior authorisation will do so at its own risk and will attract penal provisions.
