The Pfutsero Town Business Association has urged the Nagaland Power Department to commission the Rikizu 132 KV sub-station by November 2026 and review commercial electricity tariffs.
DIMAPUR — The Pfutsero Town Business Association (PTBA) has urged the Department of Power to fast-track the completion and commissioning of the 132 KV Sub-Station at Rikizu, Pfutsero, and make it fully functional by November 2026 to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply.
In a press release, the association expressed serious concern over the recurring failure and unreliability of the existing 33 KV power supply through the Meluri line, stating that the issue has caused prolonged inconvenience to the business community and general public for decades.
PTBA stated that frequent power interruptions have disrupted business operations and services, increased operating costs and caused considerable hardship to consumers.
It urged the government to treat the matter as a priority and provide sustained attention to resolving the power supply difficulties.

The association also called for a review of the existing commercial electricity tariff, describing the high tariff as an additional financial burden on traders and entrepreneurs already facing rising operating costs.
PTBA urged the Department of Power to consider a more affordable and business-friendly tariff structure, along with appropriate support, relief measures and subsidy mechanisms to reduce the impact of electricity costs on small businesses, traders and local entrepreneurs.
The association maintained that the completion of the Rikizu sub-station would strengthen the electricity network in Pfutsero and surrounding areas and provide a foundation for sustainable commercial and economic growth.
Recognising electricity as an essential requirement for local economic development, employment generation and business sustainability, PTBA appealed to the government and concerned authorities to give urgent and positive consideration to the concerns raised by the business community and general public.
