The Assembly Committee on Environment and Climate Change inspected waste management systems and infrastructure in Pfutsero.

DIMAPUR — The Committee on Environment and Climate Change of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) conducted an official site visit to Pfutsero town in the Phek district on May 26 to inspect environmental management, developmental activities, and civic administration.
The committee was led by the Chairman Achumbemo Kikon, and accompanied by members Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Zhaleo Rio, MLA Y Mankhao Konyak, MLA A Pongshi Phom, MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero, and MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, according to a DIPR report.
As part of the visit, the committee inspected the Pfutsero Town Council dumping site to assess the existing waste management system and the environmental challenges associated with solid waste disposal in the area.

During the inspection, discussions were held on the need for scientific waste management practices, proper sanitation measures, and sustainable environmental protection initiatives to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for the public.
The committee also visited the mountain radar system site at Glory Peak, where members were briefed on the installation and related infrastructural and environmental considerations. The committee members also interacted with representatives of the Chakhesang Public Organisation, the Chakhesang Mothers' Association, and the Pfutsero Town Mothers' Association.
Following the site inspections, an interactive meeting was held with the town councillors of the Pfutsero Town Council to discuss various civic and environmental issues in detail. The councillors highlighted key challenges faced by the town that require government attention and support.
