
Sara S Jamir presiding over the monsoon preparedness meeting
with allied departments in Niuland town on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Niuland District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held a monsoon
preparedness meeting with all the allied departments on Wednesday, which was
presided over by the deputy commissioner and chairperson of DDMA, Niuland, Sara
S Jamir, at her office’s conference hall.
- Addressing the meeting, the chairperson stressed that
disaster management is a team work where every department should play a
pro-active role and urged all the departments to be prepared for the monsoon
season. She also directed all the departments to update their DDMP and also be
ready with the available resources.
- Jamir also urged every department to form a disaster
management committee and ask the concerned department officials to prepare for
a damage assessment report in case of any natural disaster in the district.

- She further requested the officers from Rural Development
department to sensitise in all the villages on the importance of cleaning
drainage and hygienic life, stated a DIPR report.
- The nodal officer of DDMA Niuland, Keren Rose, also gave a
brief presentation on monsoon preparedness in the said meeting. She also
highlighted the role and duties of NSDMA and various line departments in times
of natural disaster.
- The Food and Civil Supplies, PWD (R&B), Power, Health
and Family Welfare and PHE departments presented their preparedness for natural
calamities in the district.
- During the meeting, shortage of manpower and personnel from
the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) were also deliberated.
