NITI Aayog team visits Dimapur to assess plans for an AI Centre of Excellence for Skilling under PMKK to boost youth employability.

DIMAPUR — A team from NITI Aayog, led by Yugal Joshi, programme director of Water and Land Resources, Drinking Water and Sanitation, and IT, Telecom, Tourism and Culture, visited Dimapur on October 14.
The visit was to explore the possibility of introducing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence for Skilling under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and frontier technology skill training for youths in Nagaland.
During their visit, the team also visited National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and NTTC and held meetings with district heads of offices at the DC conference hall, Dimapur, according to a DIPR report.
The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, thanked the officials for their visit.

In his opening remark, Joshi said that the initiative aims to enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship among the youth by integrating AI-based learning into key sectors.
Some of the focus areas identified where AI skilling could make a significant impact include handloom and handicrafts, agriculture and food processing, automobiles (including EV and solar technologies), healthcare, and tourism.
The programme director was accompanied by Krishna Mohan Deevi, global head (CSR) (YIEVI); Ngayaipam A Shimray, young professional, NITI Aayog; and Akshit Jain, CYIENT Foundation.
