DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the proposed public rally of Congress president and Member of Parliament Mallikarjun Kharge, which was to be held in Kohima.


According to a press statement issued by the NPCC, the rally, initially scheduled for October 7 at the NSF Solidarity Park in Kohima, had earlier been postponed indefinitely due to unforeseen health issues of Kharge.


The party informed that the rally now stands cancelled following continued advice from Kharge’s medical team.


Expressing regret over the development, the NPCC conveyed its apologies to Congress workers and the people of Nagaland who had been eagerly anticipating Kharge’s visit.

Kharge’s Nagaland visit on October 7 postponed


It further informed that a new date for the Congress president’s visit would be announced in due course upon communication of a rescheduled programme from the All India Congress Committee (AICC).


“The NPCC extends its sincere apologies to the dedicated Congress workers and the people of Nagaland who were eagerly looking forward to the event with great enthusiasm and anticipation,” the statement read.


It also thanked supporters for their understanding and patience and extended wishes for Kharge’s speedy and complete recovery.
