A fire gutted nine shops at Ikishe village in Chümoukedima district, destroying property worth an estimated INR 60 lakh, though no casualties were reported.

DIMAPUR — Nine shops at Ikishe village in Chümoukedima district were completely gutted in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, with property worth approximately INR 60 lakh destroyed, according to the shop owners.
According to personnel from the Chümoukedima Fire Station, a distress call was received at around 1.19 am, following which two fire tenders along with firefighters were dispatched to the site.
The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
The thatched shops housed grocery stores, a hotel, a butcher's shop, second-hand goods stores and a two-wheeler workshop. Fire personnel took around an hour to douse the flames.
Although no casualties or injuries were reported, the shop owners were unable to salvage any of their belongings.
