DIMAPUR — Nagaland Police has advised group administrators and members of all social media platforms to exercise caution while posting, sharing or forwarding messages, images, videos and other content, warning that legal action will be taken against those found responsible for unlawful or objectionable material.
In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the police stated that if any post, message or material is found to be offensive, misleading, unlawful or likely to disturb public peace and tranquillity, the concerned individual and group administrator would be held liable and appropriate legal action would be initiated as per the provisions of law.
The police said group administrators are responsible for monitoring the content shared within their groups.
It further advised users to verify information before sharing it and to refrain from posting content that may incite hatred, violence, panic or public disorder.
