NIELIT Kohima to host SAMARTH Northeast Innovation Hackathon on April 11.

DIMAPUR — The grand finale of the Students Advancing Mindsets in AI, Robotics, Technology and Digital Hardware (SAMARTH) Northeast Innovation Hackathon 2026 will be held on April 11 at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima. The event is being funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
An update from NIELIT Kohima stated that the event would bring together top student teams from all eight northeastern states, who would present innovative solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, electronics and digital technologies. It mentioned that the hackathon is a platform to promote innovation, problem-solving and hands-on learning among school students.

SAMARTH is a flagship initiative of NIELIT Kohima, covering all the eight northeastern states, aimed at igniting young minds with future-ready skills. The programme was launched by Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, on November 14, 2025, at NIELIT Kohima.
The grand finale will feature live project demonstrations, expert evaluations and recognition of top-performing teams with prize money of INR 1 lakh with certificate, highlighting the growing innovation ecosystem and technological potential of students in the northeastern region.
