DIMAPUR — With an aim to strengthen coordination among officers and discuss strategies for the growth and promotion of the handicrafts and handlooms sector in the region, the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (NHHDC) organised its second one-day annual conference of its officers on April 9 in Dimapur.
An update from the corporation stated that the chief guest and chairman of NHHDC, Prasilie Pienyu, emphasised on the importance of collective efforts in empowering artisans and preserving traditional crafts. He described the conference as an important platform to review achievements and address challenges. He also appreciated the initiatives of the managing director in organising capacity-building programmes and encouraged all officers to be sincere, responsible and dedicated in their duties
In his keynote address, managing director of NHHDC, Y Lipongse Thongtsar, highlighted policy directions, innovation and effective implementation of various schemes for the benefit of weavers and artisans.

A key highlight of the conference was the detailed presentations by all emporium managers, who shared the performance, achievements and challenges of their respective emporiums. Their presentations provided valuable insights into sales, customer engagement and strategies for improving outreach and market presence.
In addition, all section heads from the head office presented reports on their respective sections, outlining progress, key activities and future plans. The presentations facilitated meaningful discussions and helped in identifying areas for improvement and collaboration.
The conference also focused on strengthening cluster-based development, enhancing market access and adopting modern marketing platforms to promote handicrafts more effectively.
NHHDC further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage and supporting weavers and artisans through sustainable and inclusive development initiatives.
