DIMAPUR — The annual review meeting of the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) under the Divisional Management Unit (DMU) was held at the DFO office, Mon, on April 10 to review the ongoing activities implemented under DMU Mon, NFMP.
H Tokugha Chophy, SFS, DMU Head and Divisional Forest Officer, Mon, addressed the participants and highlighted the objectives and targets of the ongoing NFMP activities of forestry interventions and self-help groups (SHGs) income-generating activities carried out in various batches, such as in batch I, II, and III villages.
According to an update, he also briefed about the ongoing activities in batch IV villages under the Mon division. He further highlighted the outcomes and challenges from NFMP activities undertaken at the division level.

PowerPoint presentations of the annual activities were delivered by DMU staff, FMU staff, and FNGO presenting the project activities report, insights gained, challenges faced, and positive outcomes from the project activities.
A feedback and interaction session was held between JFMC chairpersons from batch I, II, and III villages, along with the SHG representatives. They shared their success stories, challenges, and grievances.
DC representative Kedoseno Rino, EAC Mon, commended the Forest department’s efforts and the involvement of communities in forest conservation and activities for the upliftment of the community through income-generative activities.
She encouraged sustainable forest management practices to safeguard resources for self-sustainability and future generations. She further apprised the JFMCs and SHGs to work hand in hand with the department for the successful execution of the project activities implemented at the grassroots level.
