DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) on Thursday resolved to press the government of Nagaland to immediately issue work orders for the remaining Public Works Department (PWD) divisions through an open tender for the second phase of the ongoing two-lane Foothills Road construction under the SASCI loan scheme.
The resolution was adopted during the committee’s first meeting of the year, held at its base office at Kher Mahal in Dimapur, following detailed deliberations.
According to an update, the committee also resolved to cooperate with an initiative of the Lotha Hoho to jointly undertake an inspection of road works in the Baghty Division. The inspection, scheduled for January 21, will cover nine work sites from Merapani 0 Point to Doyang Bridge, Governor’s Camp and Liphanyan village. The visit will involve Lotha civil society organisations, members of the print and digital media, departmental officials and contractor firms.
In another resolution, the NFHRCC urged the Nagaland PWD (Roads and Bridges) to immediately provide galvanised steel structural materials to the concerned contractors handling five bridges under the Baghty division, stating that timely supply was necessary to enable completion of work during the current working season.
At the meeting, the committee also expressed a belated condolence in solidarity with the families of late Shikaho Zhimomi, president of the Western Sumi Hoho, who died on December 16, 2025, in New Delhi, and late Dr. Imchameran, vice president of the Ao Senso Telongjem, Dimapur.
