Governor extends Yoga Day wishes
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor La Ganesan has extended International Day of Yoga greetings to the people of Nagaland. “This day, celebrated worldwide on June 21st, reminds us of yoga’s timeless power to harmonise the mind, body, and spirit. Originating in ancient India, yoga transcends boundaries and cultures, offering a universal path to holistic well-being, inner peace and resilience,” the governor said in a greeting message. Ganesan urged every citizen of Nagaland to practice yoga, experience its transformative benefits, and reaffirm “our commitment to a healthier society.” “Let us also recognise yoga’s potential to foster unity, tolerance, and collective well-being – values deeply cherished in our Naga society,” the message read.
NSCW condemns June 15 incident
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has condemned the alleged molestation of a young woman by an auto- rickshaw driver and co-passenger on June 15. In a condemnation note, the NSCW stated that the appalling act highlights the persistent threats to women’s safety and security. “It is unacceptable that women and girls in the state continue to face such dangers even in a broad daylight. This incident is not just a criminal act but a grave violation of human rights, dignity and women’s safety,” it stated. The NSCW urged the state government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation, ensure stringent punishment for the perpetrators, and take immediate measures to enhance the safety and security of women and girls in the state.
Dimapur Police recover female body
DIMAPUR — Based on a telephonic report from Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur Police recovered the body of an unidentified female at a rubber farm in Thilixu village on Friday. According to police, the deceased was wearing yellow printed pyjama, black colour T-shirt, black thread on left leg, red thread on right leg and a black rubber watch. After completing the required legal procedures, the body was taken to the District Hospital morgue for autopsy and identification. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge of Women Police Station, Dimapur, (Mobile No.7085055027).
Shamator holds anti-drug campaign
DIMAPUR — In preparation for the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Shamator district administration, in collaboration with NCORD and YoungFit Wellness, launched a ward-wise anti-drug campaign across Shamator town on Friday. As part of the initiative, master volunteers were introduced in each ward to raise awareness and promote community involvement in the fight against drug abuse, a DIPR report stated. The campaign aims to highlight various anti-drug efforts undertaken by the administration while YoungFit Wellness focuses on prevention through fitness, mental well-being and healthy lifestyle practices.
