Preparatory meeting for Banana Festival 2025 held in Wokha
DIMAPUR — A key preparatory meeting for the upcoming Banana Festival 2025 was held at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha on September 1 under the chairmanship of DC Wokha, Vineet Kumar. The meeting focused on the planning and coordination required for the successful conduct of the first-ever Banana Festival in Wokha district, scheduled to be held in the month of October. Various departments and stakeholders participated in the discussion, which included detailed deliberations on logistical arrangements, work distribution, and event preparation. The Banana Festival aims to celebrate local agricultural produce, promote entrepreneurship, and foster community engagement. The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of inter-departmental collaboration and timely execution of responsibilities to ensure the event’s success.

DMC to regulate non-motorised vehicles
DIMAPUR — The Small Vehicle Branch under the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) will conduct inspection from September 8 onwards of all non-motorised vehicles within DMC jurisdiction. In a press release on Tuesday, CEO of DMC, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, informed that the inspection will cover handcarts, pushcarts, thelas (manual carts), rickshaws, cycles and similar vehicles, which have not acquired the mandatory DMC number plate or renewed their driving license as required under law. “All concerned owners and operators are directed to regularise their documents and procure the prescribed number plates from the DMC office without delay, failing which action will be taken as per municipal rules,” it stated.
Phangnon extends Mungmung greetings
DIMAPUR — Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, S Phangnon Konyak, has extended warm greetings to the Sangtam community on the occasion of Mungmung festival. “Conveying her best wishes, she said that the festival is a time of joy, prayer and thanksgiving and expressed hope that it will usher in peace, unity and a bountiful harvest,” stated a press release issued by press secretary to the Rajya Sabha MP.
NPF CEC meeting on Sept. 6
DIMAPUR — The president of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has convened an emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) on the September 6 at the NPF Central Office, Kohima, at 11 am. In an update, the NPF stated that the main agenda of the CEC meeting is to deliberate and adopt a resolution to strengthen the party both at the grassroots and at central level. All members of the CEC have been informed to attend the meeting positively.
