Motorcyclist suffers severe injuries after head-on collision with a Scorpio vehicle at Chathe Bridge.

DIMAPUR — In a head-on collision, a 40-year-old motorcyclist was severely injured when his vehicle was struck by a Scorpio vehicle at Chathe Bridge, Chümoukedima, on Tuesday.


Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Control, Chümoukedima, Langakhum, informed Eastern Mirror that the accident occurred around 12:55 pm near end of the bridge (toward Kohima). The victim, who was riding towards Kohima, was struck by the Scorpio coming from the opposite direction.

The impact caused the bike and rider to plunge into the gorge. The injured victim was later admitted to CIHSR for treatment. Meanwhile, the Scorpio has been seized, and both the driver and the victim’s family members were summoned to the Traffic Control, Chümoukedima.


According to police, the victim belongs to Ao tribe, while the 64-year-old Scorpio driver is from Khiamniungan tribe. No other persons were involved in the accident.
