Nagaland government notifies revised Media Accreditation Rules 2025
DIMAPUR — The Government has notified the Nagaland News Media Accreditation (Revised) Rules, 2025, pursuant to the approval of the Cabinet dated December 18, 2025. According to a DIPR report, the revised rules are more inclusive and aligned with the evolving media landscape. The revised rules broaden the scope of accreditation to cover satellite channels, electronic media (news and current affairs), digital media platforms, freelancers and technicians associated with electronic media ensuring wider representation of journalists engaged in news dissemination and media services, it stated.
NH-702A Zhekiye-Sukhai section closed for road work
DIMAPUR — The Zunheboto district administration has announced the temporary closure of a portion of NH-702A from Zhekiye village to Sukhai village due to ongoing road construction works between Zhekiye and Tizu Bridge. According to a travel advisory issued by ADC Satakha, Chumlamo Humtsoe, the stretch will remain closed to all forms of vehicular movement with immediate effect till March 15, to ensure smooth and uninterrupted execution of the construction work. Travellers have been advised to take the alternate Satakha–Xuivi–Sukhai route and vice versa during the period. The administration expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the public and sought cooperation from commuters to facilitate timely completion of the project.
Nagaland to digitise old birth, death records
DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Nagaland, will be organising a special drive for online registration and digitisation of old manual birth and death certificates across the state. The drive will be conducted from February 5 to the 20th, covering all registration units in Nagaland, a DIPR report stated. Citizens who still possess old manual birth or death certificates are requested to come forward and get their records officially registered and digitised through the concerned registrars during this period. The initiative aims to update and streamline vital records by bringing older manual entries into the digital system, making them more secure, accessible, and officially recognised for future use. TBAN mourns bus accident victims
DIMAPUR — The Tangkhul Baptist Association Nagaland (TBAN) has expressed shock and sadness over the tragic bus accident near Tsiesema, Kohima, on January 31, involving members of the Chumoukedima Ao Baptist Church. “We convey our condolences to the families and dear ones of those who have departed in the incident. We pray that God provides them strength and comfort at such a time. We pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the TBAN stated in a condolence message.
KAK condemns assault on member
DIMAPUR — The Kulohau Atoizumi Küghakulu (KAK) has unequivocally condemned the “unprovoked, brutal, and cowardly attack” on its bona fide member, Kakuto Yeptho, on the night of January 29 at a petrol pump in Niuland. In a condemnation note, the KAK stated that the victim had no role whatsoever in provoking the incident. “Despite the petrol pump being closed, the accused forcibly demanded fuel and, upon refusal, carried out a violent assault, causing serious injuries. This barbaric act reflects criminal arrogance, moral depravity, and complete contempt for human dignity and the rule of law,” the union stated. Meanwhile, the KAK lauded the “swift and decisive action” taken by the Niuland Police in arresting the accused on January 31. It further demanded strictest possible legal action against the accused to deter such heinous acts.
Minister Kaito condoles Kavito’s passing
DIMAPUR — Minister of PWD (Roads & Bridges) G Kaito Aye has condoled the death of Kavito Zhimomi, Additional Director of Department of Women Development, who passed away on Tuesday at t CIHSR, Chümoukedima. In a condolence message, the minister described Kavito as a humble, sincere, and committed public servant. “Throughout his career, he carried himself with dignity, discipline, and a sense of responsibility. His dedication to duty and quiet perseverance reflected his true character and his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Nagaland, particularly in the important domain of women's development and social welfare,” Kaito stated. Terming his demise as not only a loss to the Department of Women Development but also to the Sumi community and the state at large, the minister added that his absence will be felt by many who valued his counsel, commitment and gentle demeanour.
