DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has informed that a mass social work will be conducted across Kohima district on November 1 from 6 am onwards. The initiative aims to promote cleanliness, civic responsibility, and collective participation towards maintaining a clean and vibrant Kohima district, a DIPR report stated. All district headquarters and outpost administrative officers, heads of offices and their staff, schools, colleges, institutions, shops and business establishments, as well as wards, colonies, villages, and the general public have been requested to actively take part in the cleanliness drive within their respective jurisdictions.
NCD condemns Oct. 20 drone strike
DIMAPUR — The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has condemned the alleged drone attack by Indian armed forces at Khammoi village across the Indo-Myanmar border, on October 20. In a condemnation note, the NCD stated that the attack claimed two innocent civilian lives and damaged property, besides creating fear psychosis on innocent Naga civilians living in remote areas along the border. The council questioned the rationale behind the Indian armed forces' use of advanced air attack technology to target innocent Naga civilians, asserting that the Nagas had suffered enough loss of life under the AFSPA. The NCD appealed for respect for the Nagas' peaceful way of life, emphasising that they should not be treated as inferior beings with diminished rights to live by the Indian armed forces.
OMHC condemns brutal murder
DIMAPUR — The Old Ministers Hill Council (OMHC) has expressed shock and outrage over the ‘brutal murder’ of Vihozhonu Zao, a resident of Old Ministers Hill (Panchayat Sector), Kohima, on the night of October 24. In a press release, the council stated that the heinous act of taking her life and dumping the body near a ring well within the house complex has deeply disturbed the peace and security of the entire colony. The council condemned the “barbaric and inhuman act” committed within the colony and urged the competent authority to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter at the earliest. The council further appealed that the culprits involved be brought to justice and awarded the highest degree of punishment as per the law, to ensure such acts never recur in the future.
SBCK celebrates pre-centenary jubilee
DIMAPUR — The Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) held its pre-centenary jubilee celebration on Sunday the church premises. In a press release, the SBCK stated that the event marked a significant milestone as the church prepares to celebrate its 100 years of God’s faithfulness in 2026. “The programme included thanksgiving worship, special tributes to pioneers and deacons, and various presentations reflecting the church’s journey through the years. Church members, well-wishers, and dignitaries attended the event with heartfelt gratitude and renewed commitment to continue in faith and mission,” the release stated.
KPC, DPC extend condolences to T Kikon
DIMAPUR — The Kohima Press Club (KPC) and Dimapur Press Club (DPC) have condoled the demise of Zuboni Kikon, mother of Meribeni T Kikon, Wokha correspondent of The Morung Express and part-time contributor to Nagaland Tribune, who passed away on Sunday (October 26). “We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and it is our prayer that God would grant you strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time of grief,” the KPC stated in a condolence message.

In a separate condolence message, the DPC wrote, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Meribeni and her family during this time of sorrow and pray that the Almighty grants them comfort, strength, and peace in their grief.”
