CL John condoles Sheiching passing
DIMAPUR — Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Village Guards, CL John, has condoled the demise of Sheiching Konyak, DIS (Retd.), who passed away on September 17. In a condolence message, the minister said the Sheiching devoted his life to public service, especially in the field of local education and native literature, earning admiration for his sincerity, integrity, and wisdom. “His leadership, hard work, and voluntary contributions to society will be remembered with deep respect. I had the privilege of working under him until my retirement and cherish the values he embodied,” the message read.
RMA condemns alleged child abuse
DIMAPUR — The Rengma Mothers’ Association (RMA) has condemned the reported incident involving Ganesh Tamang against a minor at Khenyu village under Tseminyu district. In a condemnation note, the RMA stated that such a deplorable act against an innocent child is not only a crime but a direct assault on the values and safety of the community.

“We express our deepest concern for the wellbeing of the child victim and extend our solidarity and prayers to the family during this difficult period. We urge the community to remain vigilant in protecting our children and to collectively ensure a safe and secure environment for them,” it stated. The association also appreciated the swift response and action taken by the district administration, district child protection unit, police and concerned authorities in addressing this grave incident. Further, the RMA demanded that the culprit be punished according to the law.
EDTC notifies business establishments
DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has informed all business establishments and shop owners within its jurisdiction that they are required to obtain permits for signboards, flex, banners, or other display materials from its office within 15 days if they had been put up without a valid permit. “Failure to comply with this directive will invite necessary action as per the rules and regulations of the East Dimapur Town Council without any further notice. All concerned are requested to kindly take note and extend their cooperation in maintaining proper order and discipline within the EDTC jurisdiction,” the EDTC stated in a press release.
