SFS Kohima marks Mother’s Day
DIMAPUR — St. Francis de Sales Church, Kohima, held a special Sunday liturgy in honour of mothers, with members of the Angami Naga community under the SFS parish gathering to offer prayers and thanksgiving for mothers and their invaluable role in families and society. According to an update, Rev. Fr. C Joseph, counsellor of St. Joseph’s College, was the main celebrant of the service. Extending Mother’s Day greetings to all mothers in the parish, he said that motherhood is one of the greatest gifts bestowed by God. In his homily, the celebrant praised mothers for their unconditional love, sacrifice and strength, while entrusting them to the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the vital role mothers play in nurturing families and communities. The congregation joined together in singing hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God for the occasion. The service concluded with prayers for the physical and spiritual wellbeing of mothers as part of the children’s duty to honour and care for them.
Body recovered behind railway building
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police informed that an unidentified male, suspected to be a non-Naga and aged around 45-50 years, was found dead at an unused enclosure corridor behind the railway building near the main entrance gate of the railway platform on May 9 at around 4:30 pm. According to police sources, verbal information regarding the incident was received from a source person, following which police personnel rushed to the place of occurrence for verification. An inquest was conducted over the body, and the preliminary cause of death is suspected to be due to hunger or illness, police said. After completion of all legal formalities, the body was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post-mortem examination. The deceased was reportedly wearing a spotted sweater and black long pants and had a moustache. MYO new team for 2026- 29
DIMAPUR — The handing and taking over ceremony between the new and outgoing office bearers of the Midland Youth Organisation (MYO), Kohima, was held at Midland Council Hall, Kohima, on May 9. According to an update, Midland Council vice chairman Tsao Paphino and search committee member Atou Liezietsu exhorted the gathering. The new MYO team for the tenure 2026-29 comprises president Madi Koso; vice presidents Vithozo Thaprii and Keduopekho Pfukha; general secretary Kethovizo Ngukha; joint secretaries Thejasizo Belho and Mhasikhoto Keyho; games and sports secretary Nourhekhotuo Liezietsu; assistant games and sports secretary Visezoto Rhetso; cultural secretary Thejaselhou Mezhiir Sekhose; assistant cultural secretary Vimhal Vitsu; information secretary Kevisier Thapo; assistant information secretaries Thomas and Seyiekhrietuo Metha; property secretary Keneilekho Paphino; women co-ordinator Keviphonuo Ngukha; and treasurer Thejanuo Yhome.
