NSCN (Akato) convenes Tatar Hoho
DIMAPUR — The speaker of National Tatar Hoho (NTH) of the Akato-led NSCN (R), Tovi L Awomi, has convened the Tatar Hoho on March 17 and the 18th in Hoito village from 10 am onwards. A statement from its MIP stated that the meeting would discuss on various deliberative political issues and other important exigency agendas pertaining to the government. It informed that all tatars and above from political wing, under secretary and above from the central secretariat and all the captains and above from Naga army wing would be eligible to attend the session. Besides, every tribal regions and UT (union territory) with 10 representatives including its chairmen and secretaries are asked to attend.
Controlled jhum burning in Tseminyu on March 13
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, has informed that traditional jhum burning in the district has been scheduled for March 13 from 11 am onwards in the Tsensun area under Tseminyu jurisdiction. In a notification, the DC said the date for the practice has been fixed by the Tseminyu Union. Villages and towns in and around the area have been advised to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of forest fires. They have also been asked to mobilise volunteers to control any fire in case of an emergency. The union has been instructed to ensure that the jhum is carried out in a controlled manner with proper monitoring and necessary precautions to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring areas.
Tseminyu DPDB meeting scheduled for March 17
DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Tseminyu district for the month of March will be held on March 17 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Tseminyu. In a notification, District Planning Officer and Member Secretary Lolezo Lawrence Tsukrie informed that the meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:00 am. All board members have been requested to take note of the schedule and attend the meeting.
13 Assam Riles firing exercise in Kohima from April 1
DIMAPUR — The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has informed the public that a small arms firing exercise will be conducted by the 13 Assam Rifles from April 1 to April 30 at the firing range, Kohima Garrison. In a notice, the DC’s office advised the general public not to enter the firing area or take cattle for grazing near the site during the mentioned period for safety reasons.
Army opens registration for Agniveer recruitment exam
DIMAPUR — Registration for the online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) for recruitment of Agniveers in the Indian Army for the year 2027 has opened, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima informed. In a notification, ADC Kohima Ruopfukuotuo Noudi stated that the Indian Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar has opened registration for the examination under the Agnipath scheme. According to a letter issued by the Colonel, Director Recruiting for Nagaland and Manipur, the registration process will remain open from February 13 to April 1, 2026. Eligible candidates aspiring to join the Indian Army as Agniveers have been advised to apply online through the official website of the Indian Army at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
