Committee on Environment and Climate Change to visit Pfutsero
DIMAPUR — The Committee on Environment and Climate Change of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, under the chairmanship of Achumbemo Kikon, will visit the waste dumping site and the proposed Mountain Radar System site at Pfutsero town on May 26. According to a DIPR report, all members of the Committee on Environment and Climate Change have been requested to make it convenient to join the visit.
Unidentified body recovered
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police recovered one unidentified body of a non-Naga male, aged around 60 years, from the Hazi Park area on Wednesday. A police report stated that an inquest was conducted over the body and ascertained the cause of death to be due to illness. It added that the body was taken to District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) morgue for postmortem examination after completion of all legal formalities. According to police, the deceased was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants. Relatives and friends of the deceased are requested to contact the officer-in-charge of East Police Station, Dimapur, on Mobile No. 7085055020 for further information.
NCD convenes emergency meeting
DIMAPUR — The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has convened an emergency meeting with all its federating units, including Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Dimapur GB Sadar and the Dimapur Urban Council Chairman federation (DUCCF) on May 25 at its office at 11:30 am. NCD has requested that all the members attend the meeting.
Idgah Committee notifies on Eid Namaz
DIMAPUR — The Idgah Committee Dimapur has informed that the Eid-ul-Adha 2026 Namaz will be held at Dimapur Idgah Prayer Ground, Golaghat Road, Dimapur, on May 28 at 7:30 am. The Committee informed that this year’s Eid-ul-Adha prayer will be led by Maulana Haji, Maulana Fuzail Ahmed Sahib, and the Pesh Imam from Idgah Jama Masjid, Dimapur. The Committee has conveyed Eid greetings and requested all to cooperate with the committee during the Eid Namaz.
Peren DC notifies on Special Intensive Revision
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Peren, Hiazu Meru, has informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the conduct of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in a phased manner across 16 states and three union territories, including Nagaland. According to a DIPR report, he has appealed to all eligible electors to extend full cooperation to the booth level officers during the house-to-house verification process and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and updated. Further, the DC and DEO of Peren requested all recognised political parties to appoint booth level agents (BLAs) for each polling station to facilitate the smooth conduct of the revision process with transparency and active participation.
IDAN to host workshop on N2FL 2.0
DIMAPUR — The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), in collaboration with the Customised Energy Solutions Foundation, will organise a one-day state-level workshop on the Nagaland Food & Feed Link (N2FL) 2.0. According to an official communication from IDAN, the workshop will be held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima on May 29 from 10 am onwards. The workshop aims to build on the foundation laid during the 2025 state-level workshop and strengthen enterprise development through clean-energy-enabled interventions.
COTPA awareness programme held at GMS Pungro
DIMAPUR — An awareness programme on the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) was held at Government Middle School (GPS), Pungro, on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the Police Station, Pungro, according to a DIPR report. The programme included presentations by Officer-in-Charge of Pungro, Inspector Hinoto Zhimo; Town Head Constable Korak; and Educational Block Resource Centre Co-ordinator Hanrila. The programme concluded with the distribution of stationery to the students.
Zeliang Youth Organisation holds executives' meeting
DIMAPUR — The Zeliang Youth Organisation (Nagaland) held its executives' meeting at the NZPO office in Jalukie town on Wednesday. During the meeting, the house held an in-depth deliberation on various prevailing socio-political issues affecting the people. Following thorough discussion, the house resolved to intervene proactively for justice, peace, and an early, honourable solution to all concerns placed before it. the organisation expressed its fullest solidarity with the Nagas in Manipur, particularly with regard to the six Liangmai Naga captives. The house unanimously resolved to initiate democratic and peaceful means to ensure their early and safe release.
