Nagaland CS to administer oath to new Upa-Lokayukta
DIMAPUR — The state government has nominated the Chief Secretary of Nagaland to administer the oath of office to the newly appointed Upa-Lokayukta, Nagaland, in the Conference Hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on January 16 at 12 noon. According to a DIPR report, all administrative heads of departments are requested to make it convenient to attend the oath-taking ceremony.
Kohima Police issues traffic advisory
DIMAPUR — The Office of the Superintendent of Police, Kohima, has issued a traffic advisory in view of the 67th Kohima Village Youth Organisation cross-country race scheduled to be held on January 16 from 12 noon to 2 pm. According to an update, traffic both up and down will be stopped from TCP Gate to Tinpatti for the duration till such time as the cross-country participants cross Tinpatti junction. Later on, up traffic will be stopped from Old Tata Parking till such time as the cross-country participants pass through the Kohima village gate junction and enter Local Ground Khuochiezie. Motorists and commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly, use alternative routes during these times, and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty.

Assam Rifles to conduct firing practice in Mon
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak, informed the general public of Mon town that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice as part of routine training at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters Mon, from January 16 to the 31 from 7 am to 7 pm. According to a DIPR report, during the said period, loud sounds of firing and explosion may be heard in and around Mon town and adjoining areas. Therefore, the public has been advised not to panic. Further, residents are advised to avoid movements in the vicinity of the firing range/camp during the above-mentioned period and to ensure the safety of children and livestock.
SBI Chedema Branch shifts to new premises
DIMAPUR — The State Bank of India (SBI) Chedema Branch was shifted to new premises at Keyake, P Khel, Kohima village, on Wednesday, with Dr. Dziesekhrielie Pienyü, vice chairman (development), P Khel Council, Kohima village, as the guest of honour. According to an update, in his address, Dr. Pienyü stated that shifting the branch to its new location would help meet the banking needs of the growing population in the area and neighbouring villages, including Chedema and Rüsoma. Hubert Wungshim, assistant general manager, RBO, called upon the local residents to extend their cooperation for shared growth and prosperity. Speaking on behalf of the Keyake Welfare Board, Kevingutso Rutsa, chairman, assured full cooperation for the smooth functioning of the branch.
VWF marks 11th foundation day
DIMAPUR — The Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) commemorated its 11th foundation day, coinciding with National Youth Day and the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, on January 12. According to an update from Niranjan Saha, founder of VWF, Manish Jain, chartered accountant, was the special guest. The event also had the presence of Bishnu Bhattacharjee, advisor; YP Gupta, legal advisor; Sobir Kumar Mech, president; Lipan Saha, vice-president; Priya Bhattacharjee, secretary; and Purnendu Das, sub-executive member, along with invitees Alok Pareek and Probal Das, and other youth leaders and members of VWF. The VWF team also visited the Community Care Center, Asha Bhawan, in Vidima village, Chümoukedima.
NSSA forms new executive council
DIMAPUR — A new team of executive council for the Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) for the tenure 2026-2028 has been formed. The team includes Neiserü Miachieo as president; V Angela Sophie and Veduta Thira as vice-presidents; Lilly Thong Metha as general secretary; and Lokhum Yimchunger and Ronsdhat Ovung as assistant general secretaries. Other members include Khonthungo Lotha as representative (secretary/addl. secy./jt. secy.); Bendang Changkiri as representative (dy. secy./under secretary); Sendi Chongshen as representative (section officer); Hinoka Chishi as representative (junior section officer); Shamba John as representative (secretariat assistant); and Chubasangla Longkumer as advisor to the NSSA executive council.
NNC/FGN to hold formal meeting on Jan. 26
DIMAPUR — The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) informed that a formal meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and FGN will be held on January 26 at 10 am at Transit Peace Camp, Kohima. According to an update, all the central authorities, regional authorities, leaders of the Naga Women Federation (NWF), Naga Youth Federation and high-ranking Naga Army officers of the NNC/FGN have been requested to attend the meeting.
