Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival continues in Tuensang with calls for peace, unity, and education byKonyak Union President K Yamao and MLA Lima Onen.

TUENSANG — Lima Onen, MLA, was the chief host, and K Yamao, president of the Konyak Union, was the tribal guest on the second day of the Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival of the Chang Naga held at the Parade Ground, Tuensang district, on Wednesday.
In a welcome address, the chief host expressed that the people of eastern Nagaland are “not backward in blood and brain but merely because of a generation gap”.
He addressed that peace and unity is the need of the hour among the people and that “one must use financial resources to upgrade education and entrepreneurship, not for guns and bullets.”

In a speech, Yamao asserted that with the new year, people must usher in new hope and aspirations and be continually grateful to God for His blessings. He expressed that “we must not be ashamed to work and earn”, because it is through hard work that God blesses accordingly.
He further said that “this is the time for forgiveness, peace-making and celebrating the importance of sharing and unity”.
The event also witnessed various cultural displays like Happung Cavalcade (traditional bamboo cart riding), Kongkin display (mouth/jaw harp), Poanglüm feast, cultural show, indigenous games, and the screening of “Hands of Clay – Short Documentary” by Moses Hongang.
