DPC elects new team for 2025-2027 tenure

 

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) elected a new team of office bearers for the 2025-2027 tenure during its general meeting at E-Space, Dimapur, on Wednesday. According to an update, Henlly Phom was elected as president, Bendangchuba as vice president, and Kanili Kiho as the general secretary. Pur Longkumer and Nzano Humtsoe will be the joint secretaries, Prasanjit Dutta the information secretary, and Talimongla Longkumer the finance secretary. Dilip Sharma was appointed as the treasurer. The executive members are Honikali Lohe, Imkong Walling, and Asungba Ao. The handing over of charge will take place on September 17.

Substance abuse awareness held at Aghunato

 

DIMAPUR — The district administration, in collaboration with District Executive Force (DEF) Zunheboto, conducted a one-day awareness programme on substance abuse under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan at Government Higher Secondary School Aghunato on September 9. According to a DIPR report, police personnel from DEF Zunheboto, students from various schools in Aghunato town, and teachers attended the programme.

 

Y Patton mourns passing of Rilanbomo Tungoe

 

DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, has expressed deep sadness at the passing of Rilanbomo Tungoe, aged 103 years and 4 months, whom he described in a condolence note as a respected elder and retired teacher from Old Riphyim, who left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday. Stating that he was the oldest in both Old Riphyim and New Riphyim villages and a source of pride and blessing for the community, Patton added that to have lived beyond a century with grace and dignity is a rare gift and that the life of late Tungoe will continue to inspire younger generations. He conveyed sincere condolences to the bereaved family and all who knew and loved him and prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace.

 

NPF president congratulates CP Radhakrishnan

 

DIMAPUR — Apong Pongener, president of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), extended his heartfelt congratulations to CP Radhakrishnan on being elected as the 15th vice president of India. In a note, Pongener said that his distinguished career as a parliamentarian and governor, marked by humility and statesmanship, inspires confidence that he will uphold the dignity and democratic values of the Rajya Sabha. “The NPF believes his elevation reflects India’s unity in diversity and wishes him good health, wisdom, and success as he undertakes this high constitutional responsibility,” it read.
