  • Kohima water supply disrupted

  • DIMAPUR — Residents of Kohima town are likely to face water supply disruptions for the next two-three days due to a major mainline breakage reported on the evening of May 26. The affected pipeline, which runs from the Jotsoma reserve forest area, burst as a result of aging infrastructure and increased water flow volume, a DIPR report stated.

  • In a statement on Tuesday, the executive engineer of urban division, Kohima, informed that the PHED Urban has launched restoration work on a war footing to address the issue as swiftly as possible.

  • Social work in Tuensang on June 5

  • DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, has informed all the citizens of Tuensang district that as part of the monsoon preparedness, the second-phase of the district-wide social work will be conducted across all towns and villages under Tuensang district on June 5. The activities include cleaning of drains, public spaces, clearing of blocked culvert and other precautionary measures to reduce monsoon related risks, an official bulletin stated. The DC also directed the Forest department, educational institutions, local organisations and SHGs to organise a plantation drive on the same day to mark the observance of World Environment Day.

  • Shamator district prepares for monsoon

  • DIMAPUR — A coordination meeting of Shamator district on monsoon preparedness was held at the deputy commissioner’s office, on May 23, chaired by DC Chubatemjen.

  • Representative from various departments, HoDs, DBs and ward presidents under Shamator district attended the meeting, a DIPR report stated. The meeting focused on identifying available resources, developing actions plan and prioritising key tasks such as the maintenance of emergency road in case of landslides, clearing clogged drainage system, medical, food supply and the overall emergency response mechanism. The committee for preparedness involves proactive measures before, during and after to minimize risks and ensures safety for the public.

  • Chozuba town beautification drive

  • DIMAPUR — A coordination meeting of Chozuba sub-division was held at the DB’s Court, Chozuba, on Tuesday under the chairperson of the ADC Chozuba. During the meeting, ADC Dr. Diana Patton emphasised developing Chozuba's natural beauty to attract outsiders, highlighting its favourable topography. She suggested planting trees like cherry to enhance sustainability and beauty, and appealed to the public to donate bamboo for fencing these trees. Extra Assistant Commissioner, Dr. Cthitu Nienu read out the work distribution for mass social work to be held June 5 from 8 am onward. The meeting was attended by the government officials, NGOs, educational institutions and business establishments, a DIPR report stated.

  • Ganeshnagar transformer damaged

  • DIMAPUR — The executive engineer of transmission division, Dimapur, has informed that the 33/11kV, 5MVA transformer at 66/33/11kV Ganeshnagar sub-station has been damaged on Tuesday afternoon. In a press release, the EE stated that the department has already arranged an alternate transformer. However, since the 11kV systems have been severely damaged, restoration of the damaged power infrastructures may take few days.  Consequently, the department may resort to load-shedding in case of system constraints in the affected area. The affected areas include villages stretching from Dhansiripar area to Urra village, Amaluma, Khehoi, Jalukie Sangtam and Khekhiho village to Hebron, Shikavi, Beisumpuikam village.

  • The department is putting all efforts for timely restoration of the affected transformer, it stated.
