EDTC suspends sanitation services
DIMAPUR — East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has informed that the sanitation services have been temporarily disrupted and collection of waste has been halted due to closure of the designated dumping site by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC). It stated that efforts are being made to resolve the issue at the earliest possible time, adding the matter has already been taken up with the concerned authority for urgent intervention. Meanwhile, EDTC has urged all residents, business establishments and institutions within its jurisdiction to bear with the inconveniences and extend cooperation during this period.
NCD calls joint meeting with non-Naga CSO
DIMAPUR — Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has convened a joint consultation meeting with Dimapur-based non-Naga civil society organisations on May 12 at its office’s conference hall at 11:30 am. The meeting has been convened to discuss the upgradation of Dimapur Railway Station to a world-class station. NCD has requested the president and secretary from Marwari Samaj, Jain Samaj, Agarwal Samaj, Maheswari Samaj, Bihari Samaj, Bhojpuri Samaj, Bhojpuri Muslim Samaj, Gorkha Union, Indigenous Gorkha, Dimapur Bongs, Linguistic Minority, Buddhist community, Sikh community, Kerela Samaj, Oriya Samaj, Bengali Samaj, Meitei Council and Muslim Council to attend the meeting.
Assam Rifles to conduct firing practice in Mon
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, has informed the general public of Mon town that the 42 Assam Rifles will conduct firing and explosive practice at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters, Mon, from May 2 to May 31, between 7 am and 7 pm. During this period, loud sounds of firing and explosions may be heard in and around Mon town and adjoining areas. The public is advised not to panic, as it is part of routine training. Further, residents have been advised to avoid movement in the vicinity of the firing range and camp during the mentioned period and to ensure the safety of children and livestock.
Coordination meeting in Pungro on May 12
DIMAPUR — Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pungro Hotolu Sema has issued a circular convening a departmental coordination meeting at the office chamber of the ADC in Pungro at 12 noon on May 12. According to a DIPR report, all concerned heads of departments under the Pungro sub-division have been informed to attend the meeting.
Mini legal services camp scheduled for Pungro
DIMAPUR — The Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), in collaboration with the district administration and the 30 Assam Rifles, will conduct a mini legal services camp at the ADC's office in Pungro from 10:30 am onwards on May 8. The services to be provided include free affidavit services, including name corrections and other legal declarations; Aadhaar services, including new enrolments and corrections; and guidance and registration for various postal and social welfare schemes. According to a DIPR report, it will also include a free health check-up by the Assam Rifles, on-site registration and issuance of Ayushman cards by the medical department, and free anti-rabies vaccination for dogs by the veterinary department. All citizens of Pungro and surrounding areas have been informed to avail of these free services.
Chief Secretary attends Sungratsu Green Moatsu 2.0
DIMAPUR — Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen attended the Sungratsu Green Moatsu 2.0 celebration as the chief guest at Sungratsu village, Mokokchung, on May 2. According to a DIPR report, In his address, he stated that the Moatsu festival is not just a time of merrymaking but a shared time for stronger community bonding. He noted that during such celebrations, the younger generation, with their participation, will learn more about the cultural heritage and tradition of the community. He also encouraged the gathering to continue preserving and practising the values passed down by their forefathers.
NSCN/GPRN (Niki) terminates two workers
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has terminated two civil workers under the Union Territory from active national service for insubordination, moral misconduct, and indulging in anti-national activities. According to an update, the terminated workers are Leacy Member Viketo Aye from Lumami village and Razou Peyu Kakiye Assumi from Baimho village. The termination order comes into force with immediate effect.
